The Time We Have

Holistic End-of-Life Doula Care

Reiki * Legacy Projects * Companionship * Post-passing Services

Are you or a loved one thinking about or nearing death?

As a Death Doula I am here to support you during this time.

I have always been attracted to the spiritual aspect of our experiences

in life and death.

By spiritual I do not mean a specific religion or practice, but valuing the part of us that is at the heart of our being human, but also connects to something larger than ourselves. This means different things to different people, and in our work together I will honor your path, your beliefs.

I have been a physician for almost 40 years, and during this time I have loved listening to life stories that my patients have shared with me. Whether they were Elders, young people, veterans or others - I have felt honored to be present with people during challenging times in their lives.

What services do you offer?

All are welcome. I will help anyone regardless of race, color, gender expression, religion, sexuality, or any other aspect of a person’s life or experience.

I offer services for the dying person and also the family, providing relaxation therapies (Reiki, Meditation and Breathing), Companionship and Legacy Work:

Reiki - this relaxing treatment is provided in the comfort of your home, to help alleviate stress and reduce pain. Reiki can be helpful for the dying person but also alleviates stress for caregivers and for the family during bereavement.

Meditation and Breathing - time honored practices help to bring calm, clarity and deepen the experience of the present. This can be helpful for the dying person as well as caregivers and loved ones, and during bereavement.

Companionship - having a supportive, compassionate presence is important for the dying person, and can provide needed respite for family caregivers.

Legacy Work - we will work together to create a Legacy Project that can be a Memory box, Album, Video messages or Letters to friends and loved ones, or special notes for children and grandchildren to open in the future.

How will you, as a Death Doula, work with my hospice team?

As a Death Doula, I am here to support you and your loved ones. Though I am a physician by training, my work as a Death Doula is non-medical and would not in any way impact your medical care.

Do I need to be in hospice care to have a Death Doula?

Anyone can work with a Death Doula if they are planning for the end of life, even if they are healthy right now. Talking about death, or creating a Legacy project, is something that is meaningful at any time.

What is your Training?

I trained with Going with Grace, under the guidance of Alua Arthur. Though I am newer to being a Death Doula, I have had almost 40 years experience in the medical field as a physician, and in working with disabled veterans. I have provided Reiki and other holistic therapies to many people over the years. I am also a Restorative Yoga instructor, Ayurveda Practitioner, EMDR Clinician with a focus on holistic trauma healing, and I am also certified in Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy. For several years I provided services to Cancer patients at Little Company of Mary Hospital and Center for Contemporary Medicine, including Reiki, Intuitive Counseling and Nutritional Medicine workshops.
